The 2nd Annual BVM marathon / half marathon event. It will take place this Saturday, October 19th — rain or shine!
Start time: 10:00 a.m. at Mater Dei Academy (we will walk or shuttle runners over to DeVoe Rd. by the cemetery)
Route: We start at the Cemetery on DeVoe Rd, which will take us all the way to the Erie Canal trail Towpath park, where we will have our gatorade station (#1). At the canal trail, runners will turn left and run all the way to Warners Rd, then turn around and run back to the Towpath park (gatorade #2). Runners will cross DeVoe Rd and run all the way on the trail to the Warners Canal Park (specifically, the little trail gate), then turn around and return to DeVoe Rd (gatorade #3). The last leg of the run will be turning left onto DeVoe and another almost immediate left on Van Alstine Rd, which takes us back to Warners Rd. A left on Warners Rd takes us right back to the Academy for the finish. The total distance is approximately 13.1 miles (Great preparation for the Jog-A-Thon!).
Aid stations: with the current plan, the gatorade will be available at mile 2, mile 6 and mile 10. The aid station will stay in the same spot.
Finish: It is anticipated that most runners will be finishing between 12:15 pm and 12:45 pm. We are hoping to arrange for pizza at 12:45ish. This will also constitute the end-of-season cross country party.
